![]() ![]() IMO, this mode was pretty easy, but it taught me the general mechanics of the game. Aim assist literally tells you where the bullet will land. Start first by playing through the main campaign on "Sniper Elite" mode. Here's how I'd recommend approaching this game, or recommending to someone how to play this game, for anyone who isn't particularly experienced in slow-paced, hardcore stealth tactical games: So we might have Cadet, Rifleman, Sniper Elite, Authentic, Authentic+, Extreme (the current Auth) and Insane (the current Auth+).I actually just now finished my third play through, main story and DLC, this time on Authentic Plus. Or maybe make new Auth and Auth+ difficulty levels and rename the current ones. Personally I hope that in SE5 they maintain the added difficulty of Auth and Auth+ but they do it while restoring the realistic feel of the game. as they detract from the authentic feel instead of adding to it. That being said? I'm sure you'll agree that it was thoughtful of them to add customisable options for those who may find some aspects of the harder difficulties frustrating? I am not saying those two modes are necessarily bad as they do add difficulty. Most of the things, which you reject, add an element of risk to the game which, might otherwise be lacking. I personally prefer the lack of on screen aids and the fact that one needs to pay attention. ![]() Only A+ was added, shortly after release, due to popular demand. But the moment you use Authentic in the name. ![]() So, these things would be acceptable if they called the named something like Extreme or Insane. Cross winds indoors or between buildings that should block wind. Wind and gravity are massively exaggerated in game. Enemies have ridiculous amount of armor. Some positions get guarded no matter what, and those posts should never be abandoned in pursuit of a lone sniper. I have cleared Objectives half a map away this way, without even going close to them. Enemies that abandon their posts to come at you from across the map, causing a turkey shoot if you are in a defensible position. But most of the time you reload when things got quiet, and in those cases in real life you would carefully refill the magazines. Seriously? What kind of idiot would throw away unused ammo? Sure, if you replace a magazine in the middle of a firefight you might drop it. Heck, you can even check by touch to see how many additional magazines remain. In real life you have an excellent sense of how much ammo is left. Removing damage indication is unauthentic and irritating. In real life I KNOW when it hurts and how serious it is. The mini-map/radar compensates for that artificial disorientation and thus contributes to a sense of realism. In real life you are pretty aware of what is where, but moving and turning in a computer screen makes you lose track. This would mirror your awareness of enemy positions in real life behavior. If you see or hear them they should show in your radar, but disappear shortly after they go out of sight. The auto-detection of nearby enemies in the radar is gone. resulting in two modes that are harder but are less authentic than the lower modes. They were quickly added after release in response to valid player requests, but the job was done poorly. It is just that the names Authentic and Authentic Plus are misnomers. ![]()
